Wales & West Utilities (WWU) has announced a major project centred around developing a low carbon hydrogen network for North Wales.
Carried out in partnership with Apollo Engineering, the feasibility study is set to entail a detailed assessment of the infrastructure that would be needed to advance opportunities for hydrogen in Wrexham and Deeside. This would include links with HyNet. It will delve into different supply and demand scenarios, all with the objective of understanding the existing hydrogen rollout to industrial customers before 2030 and domestic customers after 2030.
The study will also see the development of options for changes to the current method for implementing industrial cost-sharing “infill” schemes. These allow customers to shar ethe cost of adopting a hydrogen network which, in turn, can reduce the cost of rolling out hydrogen for industry.
