Coventry City Council reveals UK-first energy partnership with E.ON

Coventry City Council and E.ON have joined forces for a pioneering 15-year relationship that will transform the city’s approach to carbon reduction.

Becoming Coventry’s new Strategic Energy Partner, E.ON will work with the council to forge a cleaner, more sustainable city and drive the new green economy, creating jobs and developing skills “for generations to come”. The link-up is believed to be a “first for the UK” with the pair striving to revolutionise energy use in Coventry to the benefit of local communities and the wider economy as a whole, developing a whole host of different ideas and projects.

Commenting on the nature of the arrangement, E.ON UK Chief Executive, Chris Norbury, said: “This is not about designing a new vision for the future, it’s about getting on and delivering Coventry’s response to the climate crisis – making improvements across the city that people want and need. That could mean better insulation for homes, more energy efficient public buildings, shifting from fossil fuels to locally-produced renewable energy and, perhaps most importantly, creating thousands of good jobs.”
