The government has announced the launch of a Nuclear Skills Taskforce.
Building on the work that has already been carried out with industry and across government, the taskforce will develop a skills strategy, supporting the significant growth expected across a range of roles in both the defence and civil nuclear sectors. This will include technical scientific and engineering roles, all the way through to logistics, project management and commercial and finance.
Working to ensure the UK’s defence and civil nuclear sectors “have the right people with the right skills”, the taskforce will be doing all of this against the backdrop of increasing international competition for these roles. It will look to build a long-term, sustainable pipeline of skills, setting the UK’s nuclear sector up for future success, delivering on ambitions set by the government.
