Octopus Energy plots £15bn offshore wind investment by 2030

Octopus Energy is planning on investing £15bn in offshore wind by 2030 across the world through its generation arm.

In its announcement, Octopus explained that much of the focus will be on Europe, with the investment expected to support 12GW of renewable power per year. It already has several deals in the pipeline and will support developers of new offshore wind projects, as well as windfarms that are already under construction or even operational.

For example, it already has stakes in the Lincs offshore wind project and Hornsea One, both off the east coast of England. It also acquired the Borssele V windfarm in the Netherlands and has backed innovative floating offshore wind developer, Simply Blue.
