Norwich set for first electric vehicle charge points in December

Work will commence in December to install on-street residential chargers for electric vehicles (EVs) in Norwich.

In February, Norfolk County Council announced Blink Charging UK would be installing 46 EV chargers across the city. Work was due to get underway earlier but both the council and Blink agreed to delay the first installs to ensure the rollout could fully take on board comments from a public consultation, which ran in the spring. Having public chargers close to where people live was considered more important than provision elsewhere on the network, especially for residents without their own private driveways.

Following this review and redesigns of the scheme, installs are set to now be carried out in stages and should be fully complete by spring 2024. The first stage will see 66 chargers delivered to 33 of the 46 locations originally proposed, while the remaining 13 remain under review. Further details will be made in due course.
