Luminous Energy has announced it has reached “financial close” on the Bracon Ash Solar Farm, situated close to Norwich.
The 28.5MW project is anticipated to achieve first power in summer 2024, producing enough electricity to provide for over 9,500 households each year. BELECTRIC has been awarded the contract to construct Bracon Ash and has also agreed a five-year contract with Luminous to oversee the day-to-day operations and maintenance of the solar farm, once construction is complete.
Once it is operational, Bracon Ash is expected to contribute £10,000 each year towards local community projects. Luminous Energy will work during construction to establish an appropriate structure that can oversee and then administer these funds on its behalf.
Commenting on the project, Luminous Energy COO, David Bryson, explained how Bracon Ash aligns with South Norfolk Council’s emissions reduction goals, as well as the goal to reach net zero nationally by 2050. Bryson continued: “It also demonstrates our dedication to working closely with local communities. The final design, which incorporates community feedback is expected to deliver a 203% net biodiversity gain.”
