Statera Energy has awarded a front end engineering and design (FEED) contract to Worley for the first phase of its 3GW Kintore Hydrogen project in Aberdeenshire.
The aim is to complete the FEED study by Q4 2024, ahead of a final investment decision by 2025 and the project providing the full 3GW of production by the 2030s. Kintore Hydrogen progressed through the first strand of the government’s Net Zero Hydrogen Fund, with funding secured for the FEED, planning and consenting work for what is set to be an initial 500MW phase.
The project will look to use surplus electricity that is generated by Scotland’s offshore wind resources, before using this to then decarbonise power generation facilities and industrial clusters.
