Energy crisis blocking business drive to net zero

Eight in 10 (82%) UK business leaders believe the energy crisis will impact their organisation’s ability to hit their emissions reductions plans.

Schneider Electric further revealed that of that figure, around half (49%) are delaying planned investment in sustainability and net zero plans, with 34% finding themselves faced with more immediate business challenges instead. Over a quarter (27%), meanwhile, described taking practical action to meet sustainability and net zero objectives as now being “difficult”.

Despite this, they do still see the benefits. Of the 1,200 organisations that were surveyed, 39% are expecting climate change and net zero ambitions to become even more of a priority in the next three years. Just 12%, in contrast, are expecting national net zero commitments to be weakened during the same timeframe.
