Airbnb, Natwest and the Energy Saving Trust have joined forces to help Airbnb Hosts to retrofit and improve the energy efficiency of their homes.
The Sustainability Hosting Hub platform will allow hosts to make an energy efficient assessment of their listing, before then applying for a grant worth £1,000 to go towards their renovation bill. Airbnb will be adding an extra £500,000 to a £1mn fund it established through its Sustainable Hosting Plan in support of this.
The platform will also provide financing options from NatWest, with this including a marketplace with government accredited installers and contractors in the local area. It will also feature a dashboard, tracking the progress of works all the way through to completion, meaning Hosts will have what Airbnb is calling an “industry-first, one-stop shop” that helps them maximise the energy efficiency of their homes and making savings on their energy costs.
